well, happy new year

i've been thinking quite a bit about throwing an oscar night shindig. it's always fun to watch, and i have never thrown a themed party, but i've always wanted to have one - i just never had a television before. and now, i have two. or, there are two in my apartment.

and having just gotten Amy Sedaris' I Like You entertaining book as a present, i am extra motivated. maybe she'll even hear about it and come. (i want to be her friend like you have no idea).

so. i'm brainstorming:

people can dress like their favorite movie character! (entirely optional, you won't catch me in a get-up).

there will be ballots to fill out with each of the categories - whoever guesses the most winners gets prizes!

oscar-themed drinking games! (every time someone's acceptance speech goes on too long, drink! every time the camera lands on jack nicholson, drink!)

got any good ideas? let me know. i'm open to all suggestions. i want this to be a swingin' party.
