in no particular order:
Gran Torino (Clint Eastwood's head shape has changed dramatically. what the fuck?)
Synecdoche, New York (love love love Charlie Kaufman)
Doubt (again, with the Philip Seymour Hoffman!)
The Reader (i like Kate Winslet quite a bit)
Milk (even though i cannot STAND Sean Penn, I like Harvey Milk. have you ever read the short story by Leslea Newman, titled "A Letter to Harvey Milk"? Here's a link to an excerpt. This story makes me cry every time.)
Slumdog Millionaire (this movie got a lot more hype than I expected)
The Wrestler (um, Marisa Tomei is fucking hot. and I really like Darren Aronofsky)
Revolutionary Road (looks like the continuation of The Titanic's storyline ... like, if Jack had lived and he and Rose got married ... but Kate Winslet looks like she gives an amazing performance in this)
Last Chance Harvey (ok, this looks a little maudlin, but I really love Emma Thompson)
9.1.09

Synecdoche - I was really looking forward to this because I also love Charlie Kaufman, and I was very disappointed because it was super boring.
Milk - was awesome.
Slumdog Millionaire - I don't really understand all the hype for this.
The more I see the preview for Revolutionary Road, the more I want to see it. And I have no idea why. The plot of the movie seems sort of non-existent - it's like a manifestation of the Feminine Mystique, but dealing with both genders, in that it involves two people questioning their socially constructed roles in the world. Well, this is what I think the movie is about anyway. I just don't think it's going to be as awe-inspiring at the preview makes it out to be. Either way, I've come to like Kate Winslet and I like movies set in and around the same time period. So yeah, I want to see it.
I still haven't seen any of these movies.
Kate, I totally agree with you on everything you said about Revolutionary Road. The trailer gets me every time, and you've provided a great little synopsis of what I feel the movie is also about.
I do like Kate Winslet quite a bit. SHE'S SO PRETTY
