come on, he looks like a capybara

currently, i'm drinking tea, working on my syllabus, at this job that really isn't even like a job yet (hey, the semester hasn't started, i swear i'm not slacking).

but ENOUGH about me - you're here for this movie nonsense. right??

i keep talking about movies and actors i love. maybe it's time to talk about a movie or actor i hate.

walking out on movies in the theater is a commonplace occurrence for me. i'm not ashamed to get up and never come back - why waste those two hours sitting somewhere i don't want to be?

generally, i can tell by the opening credits whether or not i'm going to like a movie (opening credits are HUGE in my book - they frame the movie, and set the tone for what the audience is going to see. they're very, very important.) ... i mean, i've turned off movies because of terrible opening credit sequences. but, i'm also a little insane.

so ... right now it's easier to think about an actor i hate, rather than a movie.

i cannot stand Richard Gere. really. the only thing i have ever liked him in was I'm Not There, and he played such a small, mostly silent role that it was fine.

something about him just irritates the shit out of me. and i don't think he's that good of an actor. he seems to consistently play the same character in every movie i've ever seen him in.

and anyone that thinks he's even remotely attractive is revolting.

That picture comparison was hilarious. Speaking of you writing about all these movies you love, I've been waiting for the Half Nelson post. And speaking of Phillip Seymour Hoffman (a few posts back), have you seen Doubt yet?

haha, thanks!

And I wrote a Half Nelson post! way to pay attention. it was in December, and it's called, "Cause being a nazi's just not cool anymore, baby."

no i haven't! it's on my list of things i need to see. have you?

Ha, I actually read that one too, I just blocked it out or something.

Yeah, you should go see Doubt, it was very good. You could tell that it was adapted from a play at times, but I didn't mind.

I couldn't agree with you more about him!!! he is worthless on so many levels, yet so respected because he almost snapped off Julia Robert's finger with a jewelry box (and I think Julia Roberts happens to be the male version of Gere, but that's another post all together). he is a one note pony, whatever that is.

And what the hell is a capybara?

you are so right about Julia Roberts being the female equivalent of Richard Gere! i hate her just as much. they are both one note ponies, that's for sure. and she sure as hell looks like a pony.

a capybara is like a huge guinea pig. they live around here, sometimes. WATCH OUT
